Rules for a dictionary catalog

Back in the old days, i.e. pre 1968 when card catalogs were still de rigueur, the book pictured here was all you ever needed to understand everything about libraries. 

These days no one is much interested in the theoretical aspects of the organization of knowledge. Robots search everything, making the linear structure of physical catalogs a thing of the past.
